A18 Pro, Camera Control, Apple Intelligence. The fastest mobile chip ever built. After a month of use, here's what the iPhone 16 Pro Max does better than anything else — and where it still falls short.
The Apple A18 Pro chip in the iPhone 16 Pro Max is, by every measurable benchmark, the fastest processor ever put inside a smartphone. Its CPU and GPU performance lead Android equivalents by margins that matter in real workflows — video processing, machine learning inference, computational photography. For anyone who pushes their phone hard, the performance ceiling is simply higher here.
The Camera Control — a dedicated hardware button for photography — is a more significant addition than it might appear. After a month of daily use, we found ourselves reaching for it instinctively: half-press to focus, swipe to zoom, tap to capture. It changes the shooting experience in ways that software controls can't replicate.
